About Me

A Guide for Coming Home to Yourself

I’m Dr. Barbara Ceptus Schreiber — an Integrative Somatic Practitioner, educator, and intuitive healer. My work lives at the intersection of nervous system science, ancestral wisdom, trauma recovery, and embodied liberation.

I didn’t learn this work in a classroom first. I learned it by trying to survive my own life with only my mind, until my body finally told the truth.

My Journey Back to My Body

For years, I tried to make sense of my experiences through analysis, achievement, and language. I thought if I could understand enough or stay strong enough, something inside me would finally settle.

But the body has its own way of calling us home. Mine spoke through exhaustion, tightness, overwhelm, and an ache of disconnection that therapy alone could not reach.

Everything began to shift when I found somatic work. Through movement, breath, grounding, and slowing down, I began to feel myself again. My nervous system softened. My voice strengthened.

My spirit exhaled.

What changed my life became the foundation of my calling.

My Professional Training

My approach is both intuitive and rigorously trained. I blend modalities that support emotional, physical, cultural, and spiritual layers of healing.

I am trained in a wide spectrum of modalities that allow me to meet the body, mind, and spirit with depth and precision. My professional background weaves together Somatic Experiencing®, Trauma Recovery Coaching, Myofascial Release and Stretch Therapy, and Haitian Rale — an ancestral energetic clearing practice rooted in my Haitian lineage. I also hold degrees in Clinical Psychology and Cultural Studies, which ground my work in an understanding of identity, narrative, and the cultural conditions that shape our bodies and our healing.

Together, these modalities form the foundation of my integrative approach: a practice that honors your nervous system, your emotional landscape, your ancestral story, and your intuitive wisdom. Each session draws on the tools and traditions most supportive for where you are that day, allowing me to meet your whole self with skill, softness, and respect.

With each modality, my aim is the same: to help you return to yourself with more ease, presence, and choice.

Who I Work With

I support women and survivors who are ready to heal at the level of the body and nervous system. Many of my clients are Black women, first-generation daughters, cycle-breakers, leaders, caregivers, and creatives carrying complex emotional and ancestral stories.

You may resonate with this work if you:

  • Feel disconnected from your body

  • Carry unprocessed trauma

  • Move between overwhelm and shutdown

  • Have difficulty accessing rest

Or if you:

  • Want clearer boundaries and self-trust

  • Have tried therapy but feel stuck

  • Desire more joy, ease, and presence

Are seeking embodied transformation

All of you is welcome here.

Why People Work With Me

“My body finally feels like a place I can trust.”

Many clients come to me after realizing that insight alone isn’t enough. That their bodies are still bracing, racing, or carrying old protective patterns. What makes this work different is integration.

With me, you will:

  • Work with your nervous system, not just your thoughts

  • Heal at the pace of your body, not the pressure of survival

  • Honor your cultural and ancestral truth

  • Blend science, somatics, and spirituality

  • Experience safety, agency, and partnership
