About Me
A Guide for Coming Home to Yourself
I’m Dr. Barbara Ceptus Schreiber, PhD. an Integrative Somatic Practitioner and capacity builder. I work with people who are tired of “powering through” and ready to practice presence under pressure: in relationships, in leadership, in caregiving, and in the everyday moments that ask you to stay grounded and true.

My Journey Back to My Body
Many of us come to this work through survival. Therapy and insight can help us understand what happened, but understanding alone doesn’t always create the embodied ease, confidence, and connection we’re longing for.
My turning point came through the body: learning to listen to sensation, track my nervous system, and trust the intelligence beneath my protective patterns. That changed how I felt, how I made decisions, held boundaries, repaired rupture, and stayed present in my life.
Today, I lead with what we’re building on the other side of survival: capacity, self-trust, and embodied leadership.
My work is body-based, consent-centered, and relational. Depending on your needs, we may use grounded somatic practices, mindful movement, breath work, nervous system education, and touch-based modalities to support deeper regulation, repair, and embodiment.
I support you in building practical skills across four domains:
-
Regulation and Recovery to build steadier internal states and shorten the time it takes to come back online
-
Resilience Under Pressure to stay present through conflict, feedback, uncertainty, and visibility
-
Boundary Intelligence to sense yes/no/not yet and hold limits without collapse or aggression
-
Relational Repair & Co-Regulation to reduce rupture cycles and increase trust-building behaviors
You will never be pushed to override your boundaries “for growth.” We build capacity with pacing, precision, and respect.

My Professional Training
My approach is both intuitive and rigorously trained. I blend modalities that support emotional, physical, cultural, and spiritual layers of healing.
My training includes Somatic Experiencing®, Trauma Recovery Coaching, Integrative Somatic Trauma Therapies, Myofascial Release, and Stretch Therapy, and Haitian Ralé — an ancestral energetic clearing practice rooted in my Haitian lineage. I draw from both academic rigor and embodied lineage, holding this work as both a practice and a responsibility.
With each modality, my aim is the same: to help you return to yourself with more ease, presence, and choice.
I am not a licensed mental health clinician. I do not provide psychotherapy. If your needs fall outside my scope, or if you would be better served by clinical care, I will refer out with care.
If you’re ready to build the skills that help you stay connected to yourself, especially when life gets real, I’d be honored to support you.
Who I Work With
I support women who are ready to build nervous system capacity—so they can lead themselves with clarity, steadiness, and care. Many of my clients are Black women, first-generation daughters, cycle-breakers, leaders, caregivers, and creatives carrying complex emotional and ancestral stories.
You may resonate with this work if you:
-
Feel disconnected from your body
-
Want clearer boundaries and deeper self-trust
-
Move between overwhelm and shutdown
-
Have a hard time landing in rest; even when life slows down
Or if you:
-
Have done insight-based work but still feel stuck in old protective patterns
-
Desire more ease, presence, and choice—especially under pressure
-
Want more joy, ease, and presence in your relationships and your leadership
All of you is welcome here.
Why People Work With Me
“My body finally feels like a place I can trust.”
Many clients come to me after realizing that insight alone isn’t enough. That their bodies are still bracing, racing, or carrying old protective patterns. What makes this work different is integration: we build the capacity to stay connected to yourself in real life, not just in reflection.
With me, you will:
-
Expand your window of regulation—so recovery is faster and steadiness is more accessible
-
Build capacity at the pace of your body, not the pressure of survival
-
Honor your cultural and ancestral truth as part of your capacity
-
Experience partnership rooted in consent, agency, and respect
